This symposium will give anyone who is interested in the ancient craft of woodturning, the opportunity to participate and learn differing skills and techniques and to further their interest in the craft.

With the emphasis on education, there will be several different sections to the symposium, each offering an opportunity to either observe or participate in, but most importantly to learn the different skills that will be on show.

Demonstrations will be held in several lecture type rooms, each session being of 90 minutes duration. There will be four sessions in each room, on the Thursday, Friday & Saturday with two on the Sunday. Each demonstrator is expected to give a minimum of five rotations during the symposium. There will be time for informal type sessions after dinner for those wishing to attend.

The HANDS– ON programmes will be headed by experienced Australian turner Tim Skilton. These programmes will consist of three different sections.

The YOUTH programme is being offered to give youth both male & female between the ages of 10yrs to 17yrs the opportunity to learn a new skill. Each class will consist of 10 students in each class with a total of four classes being offered over the period of the symposium. Each youth who participates will have the opportunity to go into the draw to win a complete starter kit in woodturning. (See separate registration form)

“COME & TRY” programme is being offered to anyone other than the youth to come along and try woodturning for the first time. This programme is basically for those who have always wanted to give woodturning a go but have not had the opportunity to do so. There will be limited numbers in these classes so please book early.
